Wanda "LaVerne"(Hicks) Cassidy succumbed April 20, 2015 after a myriad of illnesses over a number of years. 

She died peacefully at Holy Family Hospital with family members nearby. She spent her adult life in New England, the last 37 years in Salem, NH. 

LaVerne worked many years in the food service industry as a short order cook, a waitress, a bartender, and a restaurant manager.

She was born in Dallas, Texas on January 6, 1938, the daughter of Cora and Isaac Hicks. She was predeceased by a brother and sister in Texas. She is survived by husband William of Salem, NH, a son Donald Dempsey of Lowell, MA, a daughter Karen Coffill and her husband David of Brunswick, ME, five grandchildren Justine Fraize of Litchfield, NH, April Dempsey of Lowell, MA, Sabrina Dempsey of Lowell, MA, David Lee Coffill of Brunswick, ME and Courtney Coffill of Baltimore, MD and three great grandchildren, Christian, Natasha, and Brian.

A memorial service will be held Saturday May 2nd at 11AM at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church 242 Boston Road Chelmsford, MA.
