Dearest Skip....may you rest in peace and know you were loved and touched by many. You had a special place in my heart for all your kindness toward me, my sister and mother for the time we spent in your life. My prayers and thoughts go to your family who will surely miss you.

I met Skip 3 decades ago. He played golf in a Wednesday night company league...30 or so men divided into teams of 2. The league decided one year that, because it had 2 members that could not seem to keep a partner beyond season, it would pair them up. Skip was one of those 2 people. I was the other. And it didn't take long for Skip & I to figure each other out.

Most of the golfers competing at Far Corners Gold Club were attentive, competitive, and focused on their score. Skip and I had slightly different priorities. #1 was creatively hiding our beer from the course Ranger. Also high on our list was deciding who got to drive the golf cart for each hole. We both really liked being on the course with the guys. . . swinging away with our clubs. . . yukking it up. But we never lost any sleep over a poorly played round.

Skip and I remained partners for 8 years . . . until the league finally stopped.

Thinking now about Skip makes me do nothing but grin. I remember a genuine straight talker . . . an honest, happy, wonderfully good man. He knew my wife, my 2 kids, and he would come to our family summer camp at the lake.

So, rather than miss him, I will say this: I will never, ever forget Skip. His time in my life was happy and memorable. Even now, saying goodbye, I am once again smiling. . .

Gordon
