Woodrow W. Palmer, known affectionately to family and friends as Woody, passed away on September 23, 2026, in Salem, New Hampshire, at the age of 94.
Woody was born on April 22, 1932, in Durham, New Hampshire, the son of Frederick S. Palmer and Bertha L. Palmer. He grew up with a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for family, values that remained with him throughout his life. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and carried the discipline and sense of duty he learned there into every chapter of his life.
Following his military service, Woody returned to the kind of honest work he knew well. He spent time working on the family farm, where he developed the practical skills and steady determination that became hallmarks of his character. In later years, he worked in the manufacturing of computer chips for Teledyne, Inc.
Woody shared many happy years with his beloved wife, Pauline (Tardif) Palmer, who predeceased him. Together, they built a life filled with companionship, shared interests, and lasting memories. One of their favorite projects was restoring a Model A, a labor of love that reflected both their patience and their enjoyment of working side by side. Woody also treasured the opportunities he had to travel, including trips to Bermuda, Disney World, and other destinations that brought him joy and lasting stories to share with those around him. A man who appreciated the simple pleasures in life, Woody found great happiness in gardening.
He is survived by his step-children, Michael Daley and his wife Patty, and Linda Jellison and her husband Doug; his sister, Buffy Crabtree; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by those who went before him and now welcome him in eternal rest.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 30, from 4 – 6PM at the Goundrey Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH. United States Army Funeral Honors will be held at 6PM.
