Violet Garabedian Obituary

Violet Garabedian, world's greatest mom and "Nana" passed away peacefully at her home in Methuen just shy of her 106th birthday.

Violet was born in New York City on October 2, 1920, to Henry and Rose Dobalian. She moved with her parents to Chelsea Massachusetts as a young girl and graduated from Chelsea high school. After graduation Violet worked in a variety of jobs in Boston including manufacturing where she proved to be an exceptional seamstress. Her life changed when she met and married Martin Garabedian. She moved with Marty to his family farm in Methuen where she spent the rest of her long and fruitful life. If there was only one thing in the world she wanted to accomplish, it was to raise a close and loving family. She exceeded all expectations. Violet was a voracious reader, storyteller, scrabble and poker player, and loved fashion. Throughout her entire life, she was known for her exceptional beauty. Story goes, parading General Patton pointed her out en route and exclaimed "There's a beauty!"

In addition to helping manage the family farm, she and Marty embarked on a series of successful real estate and business endeavors which they ran as true partners.

Marty and Violet raised their three children, Martin Jr., Mitchell, and Iris.

Violet valued her Armenian heritage and culture and made sure her family stayed true to traditions. She was a devoted member of several Armenian churches in the greater Boston area. Most recently she was a congregant at St. Gregory’s Armenian Church in North Andover.

In addition to her children, Violet leaves a number of family members including son-in-law Roger Louis, grandchildren Richard Louis and his wife Jo, Henry Louis, Melissa Garabedian, Martin "Greg" Garabedian and Marcy Garabedian. She was also the proud great grandmother of Mike and Quinn Lough. Violet was predeceased by her husband Marty, her son Marty Jr., grandchild Mia and brothers Vaughn and Daniel Dobalian.
