Thor “Pete” A. Gionet – Salem, NH

Thor “Pete” A. Gionet passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 25th after a sudden illness.

Born on October 19, 1948 in Fitchburg, MA, Pete grew up in Shirley, MA and was formerly employed at Malden Mills and Haverhill Paperboard Corp. as a millwright.

Pete loved to spend time with friends and family and always had a story and a laugh to share. He loved browsing yard sales and flea markets for special treasures to bring home.  Pete was a master of all trades and a perfectionist with a passion for collecting and fixing old trucks and cars.  Pete’s skills, experience and wisdom will be missed by everyone that depended on him to fix any problem, with a joke and a smile.

Pete leaves behind his loving wife, Diana of 51 years; daughter Ashley Gionet and her partner Jon McCoy of Milford, NH; granddaughter Ava Perkins of Salem, NH; and many close friends and family.
He was predeceased by his daughters Nicole Rae Gionet and Brooke Ann Johansen.

Pete loved animals and will be sadly missed by Romeo, Gruffy, Bailey, Misty and his grand-puppies Juliette, Sampson, and Franklin.

Pete’s sense of humor, willingness to help, wisdom, and advice will be sorely missed, and his smile and laughter will be fondly remembered by all that knew him.

Calling hours are Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 4-7 PM at Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Road, Salem, NH 03079.  U.S. Marine Corps Military Honors will be given following the Funeral Mass outside of the church.
