Susan Hartford Obituary

Susan M. Hartford passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday January 9, 2022. She was born on September 3, 1956, in Malden, Massachusetts. Her greatest joy in life was being a wife, mother, and nana.

Susan married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) on August 7, 1976. They were married for 45 loving years. She spent much of her life creating a loving home and raising her three boys and then doting on her grandchildren in any way possible.

Susan will be most remembered as a loving, caring and strong woman. She endured so much these past 16 years. Her daily struggles did not take away from the love she showed her family and friends every day. Susan was also an animal lover. One of her favorite hobbies was feeding the wildlife around her home including birds, squirrels, raccoons, deer, and foxes. She enjoyed spending time talking to friends and family, watching the Patriots and Red Sox, and of course, being with her grandchildren.

Susan was predeceased by her mother Antonetta Whitney, her stepfather Carlton Whitney, her father Edward L. Knowlton and her aunt Grace Yebba.

Susan leaves behind her loving husband Bob, her kids: Jason Hartford and his wife Tracey, Jeffrey Hartford and his wife Michelle, and Jonathan Hartford and his wife Lauren. She will also forever live on in her grandchildren, Kaylee, Grace, Jacob and Jaxon.

Susan is survived by siblings Linda Ivas and her husband Peter, Brian Whitney and his wife Antoinette, Edward Knowlton and stepsiblings Deborah Pizziferri and Patricia Knowlton-Damon.

She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends who she all adored and cared for deeply.

Visiting hours will be Saturday January 15, 2022, from 1pm to 3pm at the Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH. Funeral services will follow at 3pm in the funeral home. Burial will be private this spring in Pine Grove Cemetery in Salem, NH.
