In Loving Memory

December 1, 1947 – July 14, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven R. Blair, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us peacefully surrounded by his family on July 14, 2025, at the age of 77.

Steven was born on December 1, 1947 in Worcester, MA to William and Natalie Blair.  He grew up in Worcester, MA and later moved to Methuen, MA where he established his family and raised his children.  Steven began his career at UPS (United Parcel Service) in the early 1970s, working as a loader.  Over time, he advanced professionally and proudly earned his Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).  He retired in 2005 as a dedicated member of the Teamsters Local 25, a union affiliation he proudly maintained throughout his life.

Born with a competitive spirit and full of devotion, Steven lived a life marked by service, passion, and strength. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine, embodying the values of honor, courage, and commitment throughout his life.

A gifted athlete, Steven pursued his love of baseball as a professional player as a pitcher, earning recognition for both his skill and determination on the mound.  In later years, he found joy and camaraderie on the golf course, where he was admired for his smooth swing, sharp wit, and unwavering competitive spirit.

Beyond his many accomplishments, Steven was deeply devoted to his family. He was a loving and steadfast husband to Marlene, a guiding and supportive father to Steven and Charlene, and a cherished “Papa” to his grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and joy.  His integrity and competitive spirit - both for himself and those around him - set a standard of excellence that inspired his wife, children, teammates, and all who knew him.  His presence, encouragement, and unwavering expectations will be missed beyond measure.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Marlene Blair; his son Steven S. Blair and his wife Karen; his daughter Charlene Hamman and her husband Brian; his three grandchildren Alexis and Tia Kinnas and Sydney Blair; as well as his sister Donna LaPan and her husband William; his niece Gina Dennis and her husband Robert; and many other family members and friends.

Steven leaves behind a legacy of integrity, resilience, and love. His life was a testament to the power of dedication and commitment —whether to his country, his passions, or his family.

A celebration of Steven's life will be held on a later date.  Invitations will follow.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his honor.
