Sean Gill Obituary

It is with deep shock and sorrow that we share that Sean Michael Gill, 45, of Hampstead, NH (formerly Dover, NH) passed away tragically as the result of a car accident early in the morning of March 14, 2026.  The name Sean is of Irish origin - an Irish cognate of the name John. Its meaning is God’s gracious gift. Sean truly was a gracious gift.

Sean was born in Lawrence, MA, grew up in Hampstead, NH and attended Governor's Academy.  He spent most of his career as a chef and kitchen manager with long time positions at Libby's Bar & Grill in Durham, NH and Granite Steak & Grill in Rochester, NH.  In more recent years, he started his own company, Stonegate Painting, LLC, doing commercial painting.

Sean's friendly aura and outgoing personality led to a plethora of friends. He earned many many nicknames, including Uncle Hot Dog and Candy Man. He was easy going and low key and known as hardworking and loyal. Above all, he was hilarious and kind.  He would help anyone and give them the crazy outfit off his back.

While not working, Sean enjoyed riding his motorcycle (including numerous cross-country trips and attending Sturgis with friends), photography, monster trucks, wrestling, sports, concerts, relaxing, swimming and boating at camp, cooking (yes, even outside of work), sharing anything he found funny, and general tomfoolery.

Sean was a beloved son, a loving and supportive brother and brother- in-law and a favorite uncle. He brought laughter and huge smiles to his niece and nephew, bringing unique surprises, wearing hilarious costumes, and teaching funny songs and quotes.  His love of family food will bring many treasured memories.

Sean loved and he was loved.

Eternal rest grant unto Sean O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed Rest in Peace.

Sean joins the angels and his parents, Audrey and John C. "Jack" Gill II, in heaven. Sean is survived by his brother, John C. "Jay" Gill III and his wife Kristen of North Reading, MA and their children, his beloved niece and nephew, John C. "Jay" IV, and Katherine.
