Scott E. Smerdon

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Scott “Scottie” E. Smerdon, who died at the age of 55 on December 24, 2024, at his home in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Born on April 27, 1970, in Lawrence, Scott was a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, and friend to many.

Scott graduated from Lawrence High School and, following in his father’s footsteps, worked at Malden Mills for 13 years. He was known for his hardworking nature and his ability to brighten the lives of those around him.

A man of deep passion, Scott found joy in music and dancing. His love for these brought him endless happiness, always keeping a radio nearby, and of course, his cherished harmonica. Whether it was a favorite song or a spontaneous dance, Scott lived life with an infectious energy that brought laughter to every room. His humor and contagious laugh were a trademark, turning even the hardest of days into moments of joy.

Most of all, Scott treasured his time with family and friends, surrounding himself with the people he loved. His home was always adorned with cherished photographs and mementos, each one telling a story of the people he held dear. He loved sharing memories, and could talk for hours about the people in his life with great pride and love.

Scott is survived by his children, Amber Smerdon, Brianna Smerdon, and Daniel Smerdon; his former spouse, Ronda (Collinson) Smerdon, the mother of his children; his brother Seth Skillen; his uncles Johnny and Bobby Smerdon; his aunts Mary Smerdon, Judy Steffen, Debra Shine, and Andrea Shine; his nieces and nephews Monique Teal, Samantha Teal, Angelique Teal, Little Q Teal, Ethan Teal, and Kianna Teal; and many other extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was predeceased by his father, Earland Smerdon; his mother, Linda (DeMarco) Smerdon; his sister Stefanie Teal; and his Aunt Eleanor Larocque.

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult time.

May Scott’s spirit continue to live on through the music, laughter, and memories he leaves behind.
