Sandra Doherty Obituary

Sandra J. "Sandy" (Kelly) Doherty, 63, a resident of Atkinson, NH for the last 29 years, died Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at home after a lengthy battle with cancer.  Born in Wilmington, MA, she became a New Hampshire resident in 1972.  She attended Salem High, graduating in 1976.   While working full-time days, she attended Merrimack College in Andover, eventually transferring to New Hampshire College where she graduated in 1995 with a degree in Computer Information Systems.  She immediately went on to attend Boston University where she graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Computer Science.

Sandy's career began at Western Electric in 1980, continuing on to AT&T Technologies and then Alcatel/Lucent Technologies.  After 29 years of service, she went on to attend training courses that allowed her to start a new career at Charles River Laboratories in Wilmington in 2011.   She worked 11 years until her failing health forced her retirement in 2022.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Brian P. Doherty.  She was predeceased by her brother, Kevin and both her parents.  She also leaves her sister Leiza Peek, sister-n-law Kathleen Doherty, brother-in-law John Doherty a niece and several nephews and cousins.

At her request, there will be no services.  At a later date, there will be an "Irish Wake" that will be open to family and close family friends.  It was her wish to be remembered in life, not in death.

Arrangements are by the Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH. To leave an online condolence, please visit Sandy’s tribute page at www.goundreydewhirstfuneral.com.
