Robert Seymour “Bob” Parsons – Exeter, NH
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Robert Seymour Parsons. Bob was 92 and passed peacefully on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Bob was born on March 24, 1929 in Schenectady, New York the son of the late Ernest T. and Marion E. (Wendell) Parsons. His formative years were spent in Weymouth, Massachusetts attending Weymouth High School where he excelled in track earning a state championship. He graduated from Central High School in Manchester, New Hampshire. He later graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1953 with a history degree. After marriage Bob then pursued an architectural degree from Boston Architectural College in 1970. Bob worked as an architect for many years and later joined the U.S. Navy's Civil Service for architecture. He loved and enjoyed his family, became an excellent artist, historian, and balletomane, but his greatest love was sailing, which he did most summers at East Grand Lake in Maine or on the coast of Massachusetts.
Bob was predeceased by his wife Marilyn A. (Porter) Parsons. He is survived by his sister Lynn (Parsons) Thompson and her husband Dr. Brad E. Thompson and his brother-in-law James B. Porter. His children, Steven R. Parsons, Nancy A. Bilodeau and her husband Tom Bilodeau, Susan L. Waite-York and her husband Dick York, and Sarah B. Tompkins and her husband David Tompkins. Six grandchildren, Jeff Hoffman, Laura (Hoffman) Brown, Rebecca Waite, Zachary Waite, Alex Tompkins, and Aidan Tompkins. All his friends at Langdon Place in Exeter, New Hampshire and a special dear friend Lois Tierney.
There are no calling hours or funeral services scheduled. A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer of 2022. More details to be announced in the future. In Bob's memory donations to www.courageoussailing.org would be greatly appreciated.
