Richard R. Deshaies

Richard R. Deshaies of Salem, NH, unexpectedly passed on Monday May 6, 2019. He was born in Lawrence, MA. on July 5, 1947 to Gerard & Beatrice (Towler) Deshaies.

Richard "Dick" Deshaies graduated from Lawrence High School. He was a career Government ATF Agent and an Excise Tax Consultant prior to his retirement.

In February of 1965 Dick met Janice M. (Roy), also of Lawrence, MA. They married on June 15, 1968. Dick and Jan would be celebrating their 51st anniversary this year. Together they raised four children. Barbara J. Deshaies of Salem, NH., Christine A. Brown of Manchester, NH, Richard J. Deshaies of Windham, NH., and Jennifer M. Mead of Delaplane, VA. Throughout the years seven granchildren were born. Haeley (Stewart) Morin, Adam Stewart, Elizabeth Stewart, Kyle Brown, Aiden Deshaies, Caleigh Brown and Lexy Deshaies.

Dick was a loving, kind, intelligent and charismatic man who touched the lives of everyone he met. He would always put the needs of others ahead of his own and was always willing to help however he could. 

Holidays, family gatherings and watching New England Sports were times he looked forward to. Gardening, bowling, softball, tennis and scuba diving kept him busy.

Dick's siblings are sister Denise A. Deshaies of New Boston, NH, and brother Robert G. Deshaies of Derry, NH who passed away on April 10, 2015. His extended family of brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews, friends including Karen Reese of Salem, NH and so many others he held very close to his heart.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 6 PM at the Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main St., Salem, NH. Friends may call on Saturday from 3 to 6 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the nonprofit charity of your choice.
