Peter Hamilton Flagg, affectionately our Boppa, 93 of Methuen passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday January 20, 2024 at Care Dimensions Hospice House, Lincoln. Peter was born on November 3, 1930, and formerly lived in Reading, MA. He was the son of Granville and Elsie Flagg. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years Susan Flagg. Peter’s family include his children Sarah and her husband Gregg Gambell, Scott and his wife Judy Flagg, Caroline and her husband Phil Hamel, and Steven and his wife Jennifer Flagg. Peter also leaves 9 grandchildren, Ben, Shawn, Christine, Josh, Molly, Peter, Caty, Danny, and Allison. Peter also appreciated the love and support of Gran and Debbie Harris over the years.
To know Boppa was to love him. His kind, engaging personality, warm smile and twinkling eyes endeared him to everyone who met him. While he and Emma raised their family he worked as a Salesman and Computer Programmer for Univac and MIT. But he found his true passion when he retired and began his 2nd career as a Tour guide for Olde Town Trolley Company. He was a consummate storyteller and gave tours to people from all over the world. His passion for history, love for all things Boston and his ability to connect with people made him the most popular trolley/tour guide at the company even though he was 3 times older than all the others.
Above all else though, his family was his primary focus and love. He and Emma attended more of their kids and later grandkids sporting, theater, school events than you could count. He loved being a part of all our lives and many of our friends counted him as their friend. Although he missed Emma terribly, he spent the last 2 years still focusing on his family. We know he, like us, are grateful for the time we had with him these past two years. We continued to learn more from the stories that he told us of his early years and will cherish that time.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate this great man at calling hours on Thursday January 25 from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Goundrey Dewhirst Funeral Home 42 Main Street, Salem NH.
