Olga Guza-Pabst – Salem, NH

Olga Guza-Pabst, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on

Thursday, May 16, 2024. Olga was born in Caracus, Venezuela after her mother and father.

(Anthony and Maria Guza) immigrated from Ukraine after being taken prisoner by the Nazis.

and then escaping from Stalin’s terror. Eventually the family was able to get permission to

immigrate to Amherst, NY (Buffalo) where Olga grew up, the youngest of four

children. Olga, her husband Doug, and sons Michael and Tony lived in Salem, NH. To say Olga

will be missed by all is an understatement.

Olga graduated from the University at Buffalo with a Master’s Degree in Epidemiology. She

served in the United States Air Force (active duty and reserves) for 28 years as an aeromedical

evacuation nurse. She retired from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 1 in

2019, after working as an environmental scientist for 32 years.

Olga loved her family more than anything and always went above and beyond to show love and

offer support. She was always willing to help and would move mountains to help out family,

friends, and animals. Olga was a passionate animal lover, as evidenced by her many dogs, cats,

turtle, and birds. In fact, her love for animals was so strong that she became a vegetarian in

college, and raised her sons the same way. She volunteered her time with Feline Friends of NH

and rescued many cats, dogs, and made sure injured wild animals received lifesaving care. Olga

further helped out by volunteering her time, when needed, as an alternate on the Town of Salem

Zoning Board. She oversaw making sure the local common grassy areas of her neighborhood

(Autumn Woods) were kept neat. Olga was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star,

Rockingham Chapter Number 3, where she served in many Officer Roles. Olga loved all things

Buffalo, NY and visited often. Olga loved sports and was likely NH’s Number One Buffalo Bills

and Buffalo Sabres Fan. There is no doubt that her efforts helped to make the world a better place.

Olga is survived by her husband Douglas Pabst and sons, Jacob, Michael and Tony. She is also

survived by her brothers Alex and Eugene, her sister Maria and many wonderful, nieces and

nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations in Olga's
