Oksana de Moel Martinez died on March 25, 2025. She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Martinez, their son, Tidal, sister Olena Parfenov, Olena’s husband Valeriy Parfenov , and parents, Kate Schell and Ed de Moel, mother-in-law Josephine Martinez, sister-in-law Yesenia Martinez, brother-in-law Anthony Martinez and his wife Anamaria Diaz-Martinez. Oksana is also survived by many extended family members that include, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Oksana was born on September 8th, 1991 to Lubov Innokentievna Arhipova and Viktor Valentinovich Arhipov in the town of Yugolok, Siberia. After her birth family fell apart. She spent five years in orphanages in Siberia. In the summer of 2000, she participated in the Bridge of Hope program – a program that brought older adoptable children to the USA for several weeks to live with prospective adoptive parents while attending day camp. Her hosts, Kate Schell and Ed de Moel, were immediately smitten, and began the adoption process. She came home with us on February 8th, 2001.
Oksana learned English quickly, motivated by her need for friends her age. She enjoyed art and physical activity, particularly skateboarding.
While in middle school, Oksana joined the local swim team, becoming both their publicity image and the champion of the girls in her age group.
The next summer we met a girl from Ukraine, Olena. The girls were inseparable from the first day until it was time for Olena to return to Ukraine. When Olena finally came home in spring of 2005, the girls became very close. They helped each other through school, and engaged in teenage shenanigans.
Oksana attended school in Rockville, Maryland, and in Arlington, Massachusetts. After high school graduation she became an Executive Assistant at a few firms located in Waltham, Cambridge and the Boston area. Oksana was passionate and driven to work for companies that had deep commitments in the fight against cancer, she worked for the following cancer research firms: Vecna Technologies, Momenta Pharmaceuticals, Oncologie Biotechnology, Amazon Pharmacy, Monte Rosa Therapeutics, and Bicycle Therapeutics. Oksana was also a very social butterfly and wanted to work in the field of hospitality, she worked briefly at the Artisan Hotel in Salem, New Hampshire.
Oksana will be remembered as a beautiful soul who loved her family, she especially loved her son. She met and fell in love with her husband Jeffrey Martinez in the year 2016, gave birth to Tidal Martinez in the year 2018, and married Tidal’s father, Jeffrey Martinez on September 1, 2019. She loved to spend time with her friends and built long lasting friendships that carried long distances. For the past few years, she has primarily been a homemaker in the town of Salem, New Hampshire. She enjoyed trying new restaurants that serve foreign exotic foods, she enjoyed traveling, and the beach was also her favorite place to go.
