Norman "Peter" Reynolds, 94 of Londonderry, NH died on Saturday December 10, 2022 peacefully at his home.
Peter was born in Lebanon, NH and lived most of his life in Salem, NH. He graduated from Woodbury High School in 1945. Peter started his career at the Rockingham Park Racetrack at the age of 9 and worked his way up to track superintendent. Pete was employed at the racetrack until the fire in 1980. During his years at the racetrack, Pete was also employed as a police officer with the Town of Salem, NH for 17 years. After the fire at the track, Peter went to work for Borden Chemical until his retirement. Retirement was not Peter's cup of tea and he came out of retirement to work for Goundrey Funeral home until the age of 90. The part of the job that Peter enjoyed most was being there for the people during their time of grief.
Peter's Catholic faith was a very important part of his life and how he lived it. His faith was reflected in his work with Cardinal Cushing. Along with Lou and Lutza Smith, Peter helped with the establishment of Kennedy Memorial Hospital for children. He would bring a pony named "Proud Boy" in his car to visit with the children. He was also involved with the Rockingham Park Racetrack Ministry, devoting many hours of his time to this cause. Any time that was not spent at work or on his charitable activities, you could find Peter in the great outdoors tending to his garden or doing yard work. He was a proud member of the VFW auxiliary and Salem Derry Elks lodge, 2226.
Peter will be fondly remembered by everyone who met him for his Christ like spirit and devotion to his family and friends. This is especially true of his son Lance Reynolds and his partner Susan Donovan of Londonderry, NH, his daughter-in-law Dawn Reynolds of Londonderry, NH, his beloved granddaughter Tammi Livingston and her husband Michael of Londonderry, NH, and great-grandsons Irish, Quinn and Kellen Livingston of Londonderry, NH. He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Mildred Reynolds, brothers Albert and Arthur Reynolds, and his beloved wife of 65 years Kitty Reynolds. Peter will be missed by his numerous friends, especially his longtime friend Donna Landry.
