Nancy A. Pantazopoulos – Salem, NH
Nancy A. Pantazopoulos, 61, of Salem, NH, passed away unexpectedly on November 28, 2023, with heart complications during recovery from uterine cancer surgery. She is survived by her loving husband, John and their beautiful children, George and Chrysanthe. Nancy and John recently celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary.
Additionally, she is survived by her siblings Richard DiFillipo of Peabody, MA; Anthony DiFillipo of Lynn, MA, and his wife Dolores with their children Vanessa and Anthony; Rocco DiFillipo of Lynn, MA; Ann (DiFillipo) Amberman of Middleton, MA, and her husband Michael with their children Corey and Joshua; and nephews Armand J. DiFillipo and Dylan DiFillipo from her late brother Ralph DiFillipo of Lynn, MA. She was also predeceased by her parents Armand R. and Nancy (Androutsos) DiFillipo of Lynn, MA.
Nancy is a graduate of Boston College with a degree in Business Management and a retired Yellow Pages advertising account manager from Nynex Corporation (now Verizon). She worked tirelessly managing property for the family trust and for a local business, while also bookkeeping for her brother, Richard’s antique business.
She gave so much of herself selflessly to her husband and children as well as her whole family and friends. She was loved by all because of her deep and honest personal relationships. Nancy was the first to call to welcome you to her home, to stay in touch, and the first to comfort and console family and friends. Her infectious laughter, charisma, and sense of humor, along with the energy of an Olympic athlete would energize and brighten up any social gathering.
She moved to Salem, NH from Lynn, to be close to Lowell so that her children can attend The Hellenic American Academy parochial school to develop a strong faith in God and reinforce their Greek heritage. Nancy’s priority was her children. She nurtured them to be become selfless as she was, to put their trust in God, look respectable, wear clean and appropriate clothes, and above all, to be kind and compassionate to everybody.
In the early years she worked at the Girls Club of Lynn, coached and mentored a young girl in a “Big Sister/Little Sister” program and was a faithful parishioner of St. Francis Church of Lynn. During the last 33 years she became an active parishioner of Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Andover and served as an officer of two of its charitable organizations, The Daughters of Penelope and Philoptochos. She would often help cook and serve food during the church’s annual Greek festivals.
Nancy loved to dance and enjoyed music. She would look forward to gather her family and friends annually to watch and listen to her husband play with his band, The Salem Boyz, at various venues in the summer. She loved being together with her husband John to take bike rides and walks on the Salem-Windham Rail Trail. Most of all she enjoyed visiting her roots, gorgeous Italy and beautiful Greece to see her husband’s family.
Nancy loved to cook and welcome everyone to her home. She was an awesome chef crediting her mother and mother-in-law along with several close friends and cousins for her skills. Flowers, gardening and planting vegetables were her life’s passion. She was completely captivated by nature while on the look-out for hawks, eagles, and other wildlife that would frequently roam the back yard of her home.
She remembered every name and how each person was connected to a particular family or social circle of friends. Nancy loved people deeply and had a strong faith in God. That is how she found her energy and ultimately gave more than she ever took.
Visitation hours are on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 11am followed by 12 noon funeral at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 71 Chandler Rd, Andover, MA, followed by burial services in Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence, MA. The wake and the funeral service are both at the church, not the funeral home.
