Matthew Raadmae Obituary

Matthew Raadmae – Salem, NH

Matthew Raadmae age 77, of Salem NH died peacefully at home on March 18, 2025.

Matthew was born in Memmigen Germany, on March 14, 1948 but soon moved with his family

to Lawrence MA. He was the son of the late Augustus and Aino (Juurik) Raadmae.

He joined the Navy in 1965 and after that worked for the union as a Master Pipefitter for many

years before retiring. He purchased his first home in Milford NH, where he enjoyed sitting in

his backyard while cooking on his grill and smoking ribs that fell off the bone.

He didn’t have many hobbies, but one thing he liked to do before his hands wouldn’t allow him

due to his arthritis was making small ships. He adored his cats the most and hanging out with them, while he has fond memories of the ones who have passed, Marley, Askhim and Bip, his last living cat was Gus who gave him great comfort and who was by his side till the very end.

Matt had four daughters, Kim Raadmae of Salem New Hampshire, Rebecca Monaghan of Wasilla, Alaska, Amanda Raadmae of Colorado and Amy Bilodeau of Milford, New Hampshire. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was a brother to Linda Kafkas of California and he was predeceased by 3 brothers, Eddie, Arnold and Peter Raadmae. We would also like to thank Marlene Dow, who helped to care for Matt for the last 2 years, and doing so with compassion and respect.

He spent the last 6 weeks of his life living at Greystone Farms in Salem NH and while life was

difficult for him and confusing at times, the staff at Greystone treated him with dignity,

compassion, safety and wonderful care, and we are forever grateful for the staff.
