Mary Ann (Laycock) Kiernan – Salem, NH

Mary Ann (Laycock) Kiernan, age 99 of Salem, NH passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 17, 2020 with her loving husband by her side.  She was born on May 21, 1922 in Lawrence, MA the daughter of the late, William and Harriet (Driver) Laycock.  She was raised and educated in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School, Class of 1940.                          

She worked in the accounting department at the IRS in Andover, MA for 26 years and retired in 1976.

Mary enjoyed kayaking, cross country skiing and taking cruises with her husband, Bill.  She was also a member of the Red Hat Society in Salem, NH and enjoyed practicing Tai Chi. She enjoyed the many summers when her three grandchildren would come and spend time with her and Bill at their home on Canobie Lake.  She was very active as a benefactor in the restoration of the bowling alley at Crotched Mountain in Bennington, NH.  Mary also actively donated to many charitable organizations across New Hampshire every year.  She was a Fellow in the Palmer Academy of Chiropractic for valued contribution to Palmer College and to the advancement of the Chiropractic profession.

 Mary is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dr. William J. Kiernan of Salem, NH, her daughter, Donna Bellorado of San Francisco, CA, her three grandchildren, Joeonna Bellorado-Samuels, Benjamin Bellorado and Orion Bellorado and his wife, Heidi and her great-grandson, Jack Bellorado.  Several nieces and nephews also survive her.  Mary was predeceased by her son, Jack Bellorado as well as eight sisters and one brother.

There are no calling hours or funeral services.  Mary’s cremated remains will be buried at sea at a later date at the convenience of her family.  Donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.  Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079 is entrusted with the arrangements.
