Marieann Carter – Sandown, NH
Marieann (Bourgoin) Carter age 72 of Sandown, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and loved ones, following a long battle with cancer on Sunday, November 20, 2022. She was born in Lawrence, MA on January 24, 1950, the daughter of the late, Alfred E. and Ida (Forzese) Bourgoin.
She always had a desire to care for others which led her to become a nurse. She worked for several years as an LPN at Holy Family Hospital, formerly Bon Secour Hospital, and retired as an elementary school nurse for the Salem, NH School District.
Marieann loved the ocean and warm weather. She also enjoyed researching her family history, genealogy, traveling, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Donald Carter, Jr and his wife, Leslie of Marblehead, MA and her daughter, Sheri Carter of Haverhill, MA. Her siblings; Robert Bourgoin of Haverhill, MA, Sharon Morris and her husband, John of NC, Ronald Covey and his wife, Shela of Methuen, MA and Donna Benedict and her husband, Duane of Methuen, MA. Her grandchildren; Donald Newnan and Edward Newnan of Windham, NH, Bryanne Pudwell and her husband, Gareth of Pittsfield, MA, Emma Papadakis of Windham, NH and Lucas, Paloma and Francesca Carter of Marblehead, MA. Her great-grandchildren, Riley, London, and Astrid Pudwell, as well as several nieces and nephews also survive her. Marieann was predeceased by her husband, Donald Carter, Sr., her life friend, Raymond Chagnon as well as her brothers, Albert “Dickey” Bourgoin and Michael Bourgoin.
Calling hours are Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at Goundrey Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079. A Funeral Service will follow the calling hours in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Salem, NH.
