Marie R. DeMellia – Salem, NH

Marie R. DeMellia age 86 of Salem, NH passed away on Monday February 22, 2021 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA surrounded by her family.  She was born on March 4, 1934 in Boston, MA the daughter of the late, Benjamin and Mary (Campanella) Burgio.  She was raised and educated in South Boston and attended South Boston High School.

She had worked for NECCO as well as Standard Thompson in Everett, MA for many years prior to making the decision to stay home to raise her growing family.

Marie enjoyed Tole painting items that her husband hand crafted out of wood.  She also liked to color and spend time at the beach during the summer.  Her greatest joy however was spending time with her extended family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Michael T. DeMellia in 2003.  She is survived by her daughter, Michelle St. Jean and husband, Ken of Salem, NH, her sons, Michael T. DeMellia and wife, Judy of Haverhill, MA, James DeMellia and wife, Nancie of Salem, NH and John DeMellia and wife, Brenda of Loveland, OH, her brother, Benjamin Burgio and wife, Chris of Florida, her sister-in-law, Barbara Burgio of Peabody, MA, her grandchildren, Tara and Michael DeMellia, Jimmy and Sean DeMellia, Matt St. Jean and wife, Brittney, Jessica St. Jean, Caroline, Andrew and Lillian DeMellia, great-grandchildren, Dylan and Addison Labrecque, Cadence DeMellia and Max Roberge.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.  Marie was also predeceased by her brothers, Salvatore, John and her twin, Rosario Burgio.

Due to concerns over COVID-19 there are no calling hours.  Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Saturday February 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 40 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079.  Please meet the family in church.  Burial will follow the Mass in Pine Grove Cemetery in Salem, NH.  Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079 is entrusted with the arrangements.  Please visit www.goundreydewhirstfuneral.com to sign the online guest book.
