Louis Yvon Levesque - Salem, NH

 

Louis Yvon Levesque, 90, of Salem, NH, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 23, 2024, at Lawrence General Hospital. He was one of eight children of the late Louis and Alice (Halle) Levesque.

 

He was born on May 21, 1934, in Rimouski, Quebec, Canada. Lou came to the United States when he was 17 and graduated from Pittsfield High School Upon graduation, he served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge.

 

After his service, Lou married Mary Butler in 1958 in Pittsfield, MA. They moved to Hartford, Connecticut and Lawrence, Mass before settling down in Salem, NH. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University.

 

He worked for 30 years at Bell Labs in North Andover where he was awarded multiple patents as an Electrical Engineer. After retiring from Bell Labs, he continued his career at Texas Instruments.

 

Lou loved hockey, tennis, and bridge. He played well into his 60s and enjoyed the competitiveness of the games. But what he loved most was his family, including annual camping trips with his boys, and cookouts where he would man the grill and loved it when people were in his pool. He enjoyed his retirement with his beautiful wife Mary whom he adored, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchild. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

 

Besides his wife Mary of Salem, NH. Lou is survived by his children: Debbie D'Orazio (Dan), Greg Levesque (Mary), Cindy Routhier (Scott) and Bobby Levesque (Lisa), grandchildren: Nicole, Eric Gregory, Brett and Paige, and great grandchild Owen, siblings: Mary-Paul Strang, Celine Polacinski, Gaetane Andrews, Marcel Levesque and Diane Dougherty (Ken), and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brothers Jerry and Pierre.

 

The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Hospice Staff at Lawrence General Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute  in Methuen, MA for their wonderful care.

 

Family and friends are invited to a prayer hour on Saturday June 29th at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Road, Salem, NH 03079 beginning at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Burial with U.S. Marine Corps Honors will follow the Funeral Mass in Pine Grove Cemetery in Salem, NH. Arrangements are under the direction of Goundrey Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem NH 03079.
