Laura D. (Custeau) Shevlin

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Laura Shevlin passed away on April 18, 2019 after a long battle with Dementia. Laura was born on December 31, 1949 and grew up in Lawrence, MA.

When Laura was 15, she met Kenneth Shevlin Sr. and they became high school sweethearts. In June of 1969 they were married and started a family. They moved to Derry, NH., and raised their sons, James and Kenneth Jr. Laura always put her husband and sons before herself. She spent countless hours instilling strong family values into her boys, and teaching them how to grow into good men. As her sons grew, Laura joined the workforce and ultimately retired from BAE Systems in Nashua, NH.

Laura was known for her endless smile, quiet demeanor, and someone you can always count on. She enjoyed family vacations and spending quiet times with her husband. She especially enjoyed travelling cross country by train and seasonal camping with her husband. She also enjoyed spending time with her sisters, brothers, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Kenneth Sr. of Derry, NH., her son James and his wife Judith, Their sons Joshua and Jayson of Northfield, NH., Her son Kenneth Jr. his wife Jaime, and their sons Kayden, Kamden and Keegan of Auburn, NH., Her sisters Delia Custeau of Haverhill, MA. and Susan Dalton of Haverhill, MA., brothers Albert Custeau and his wife Sandra of Manchester, NH., and Raymond Custeau of Manchester, NH. Brother in law John Shevlin and his wife Margarita of Ware, MA., as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Laura was predeceased by her parents Noel and Claire Custeau, brother Phillip Custeau, sister Linda Cahalane, nephew Sean Cahalane and nephew Keith Custeau.

Friends may call on Tuesday April 23, 2019 from 5 to 8 PM at the Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home 42 Main St., Salem, NH. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 24, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
