Judy Marie (Garland) Day – Salem, NH

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart to share the passing of my aunt Judy, who died peacefully with family by her side on October 4, 2021.  Judy was called home to be with Shawn, the love of her life and her Heavenly Father, the lover of her soul.  Judy was born in Haverhill, MA and was the daughter of the late, Howard and Rita Mitchell.  She has been a resident of Salem, NH for 40 years.  Judy graduated from Lawrence High School.  She had worked at the IRS, Raytheon, as a Nanny and most recently she was working for Salem Community Television for over 20 years.  She loved her job and was perfectly suited for it.  Her warm friendly personality made her a natural for being in the public eye.  Many people know her from covering town meetings and local organization events where she welcomed the boards and the public with a smile and snacks.  She took great pride in her camera work and was an excellent TV Producer.  She wore her professional heart on her sleeve and her license plates sported TV-23.  She loved her town and made her mark on the community.  Her work will live on at SCTV.

Judy married Shawn Day on September 11, 1981, sharing 40 years together.  She was dog mom to Peanut and Candy.  Judy enjoyed the ocean, races, playing BINGO, cards, newspapers, cross words, Hershey’s with almonds, Trident gum and David Muir.  She wouldn’t talk while he was on TV.

Judy especially loved and cherished family gatherings and time spent with friends.  She was an amazing wonderful wife and caregiver, caring for Shawn at home until he passed away on July 20, 2021.  Judy loved unconditionally and was loved by all who knew her.  She leaves behind her loving family, Rick and Lynne Day of Pelham, NH, Robin Leclercq and Maureen Day also of NH.  Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as many friends who were like family also survive her.  Judy always knew that there was an Angel watching out for her and now she is our Angel watching out for us 111.  Rest in peace Angel.

At Judy’s request there are not calling hours.  Funeral services and burial will be private.
