Juan Gilberto Rivera - Haverhill, MA

 

Juan Gilberto Rivera, age 39 of Haverhill, MA passed away on April 4, 2025. He was born on November 14, 1985 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Juan brought warmth, strength and dedication to everyone whose lives he touched.

 

A proud Veteran of the United States Army Reserve, Juan served with honor and integrity for 8 years. His commitment to serving others didn’t end there. He continued to support the military community for 14 more years as a dedicated military contractor. His work reflected his loyalty, work ethic and deep sense of responsibility.

 

Juan was a graduate of East Boston High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and memories.

 

Juan is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Elena Perez, his cherished daughter, Bryanna Elena Rivera and his adopted daughter, Angelique Salcedo, whom he loved as his own. He was the beloved son of Alba Lidia Avila and the late, Gilberto Rivera. Juan leaves behind a large and loving family including: His brother, Aldo Rivera and wife, Sindy Rivera, their children, Christian, Jonathan and Katelyn Rivera. His brother, Edgar Rivera and his children, Jasmine and Veronica Rivera. His brother, Edwin Rivera and his children, Christopher and Carlos Rivera. His sister, Nuria Rivera and her son, Brian Rivera. His brother, Hector Rivera and wife Heather Rivera and their children, Kylie and Adriana Rivera. Juan was a devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a steady, guiding presence in their lives. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Stella, who was a constant companion and a source of joy to him.

 

Known for his adventurous spirit and his ability to make everyone around him smile, Juan was a Jokester who could light up any room with his positive energy. His infectious smile and sense of humor made him a joy to be around. He was always us for an adventure or a good time with his friends and family.

 

Juan enjoyed fishing, finding peace and relaxation in nature. He also had a passion for music, food and cars. Whether it was a good meal, a favorite song or a love for cars. He embraced live with enthusiasm and joy.

 

Beyond his professional life, Juan was passionate about coaching children’s soccer, where he brought joy, discipline and teamwork to the field. He was a loyal fan of Boston sports teams, cheering them on with heart and pride. A man of deep faith, Juan was a member of Granite United Church in Salem, NH, where he found strength, purpose and community.

 

Juan will be remembered for his selfless nature, sense of humor and unwavering love that he gave to his family, friends, and those he served. His legacy lives on in the lives that he touched and the example that he set.

 

Calling hours are Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 4-8 PM at Goundrey Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Granite United Church, 1 Sand Hill Road, Salem, NH 03079. "Please meet the family at the church, wearing your favorite Boston sports gear, as we celebrate Juan's life and send him off to his eternal rest by God's side".
