Joanne M. (Bleczinski) – Salem, NH
Joanne M. (Bleczinski) Ruel, 88, of Salem, NH, a beloved wife, mother & grandmother, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, June 10th, at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, MA. She grew up in Methuen, MA and graduated from Methuen High School. After high School, she worked at the IRS, and then at Raytheon in various roles.
She was married to Leo, her truest love, on June 16, 1957, finally becoming a homemaker, as she had her 4 boys. Throughout her young life she worked to become an accomplished accordion player. She went on to be a finalist in the Ted Mack Show Original Amateur Hour, and was also a finalist in the Merrimack Valley Community Auditions at a young age, playing popular Polkas and entertaining many with her talent.
In her spare time she enjoyed listening to all types of music from Led Zeppelin to Sammy Davis, watching old movies and having chats about anything, important or whimsical. She also relished spending time with her family on Lake Winnipesaukee, taking in the sights and local destinations, going to the theater, and trying new and favorite restaurants.
Joanne was predeceased by her devoted husband Leo Ruel Sr. She is survived by her children Michael J. Ruel, Brian D. Ruel of Concord, NH, Leo R. Ruel Jr, and his wife Loreen of Windham, NH, Christopher T. Ruel and his wife Jamie of Salem, NH. Cherished grandmother of Ashley Ruel, Adam Ruel and Bailey Ruel.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Food for the Hungry Food Pantry, 6 Pleasant St., Salem, NH 03079. Calling hour will be at the Goundry Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079 on Tuesday, June 16, from 9am - 10am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am at St. Joseph Church, 40 Main Street in Salem, NH. A private burial will follow the Funeral Mass.
