Joan M. Legere

Joan M. Legere of Salem, NH passed away at her home on Saturday May 22, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Billerica, MA the daughter of the late John M. and Ethel M. (Harrison) Amaral. She graduated Billerica High School class of 1956.  She enjoyed sports and was part of the girls’ basketball team and also played badminton.

Joan was loved by all who had the blessing to know her.  She often joked that children and animals loved her, but truth be told, everyone loved “nana” Joan.  She loved helping people and was kind and generous to all.  She had been a member of the Granite United Church in Salem for over 20 years and had a wonderful group of friends at a local Dunkin Donuts.  Joan loved her coffee and her friends.

Joan was very creative and loved crafting.  A few of her favorites were scrapbooking, photography and sewing.  She made many a Halloween costume for her children and grandchildren.   She was also passionate about her puzzles, the holidays, collecting, beanie babies, bingo and yard sales. 

Joan’s greatest joy was her family.  She was a devoted mother of four, Kevin, Cheryl, Linda and Christopher, a blessed grandmother of seven and great grandmother of two.  She also leaves behind the most loving brother, Richard and sister Deana. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do to help her family. Joan will be missed deeply by many.

Family and friends are invited to an hour of visitation from 10 am to 11 am on Wednesday May 26, 2021 at the Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 am on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Granite United Church, 1 Sand Hill Road, Salem, NH 03079.
