James Segalini Obituary

James Francis Segalini, 83, of Londonderry, NH, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly while working in his yard on April 10, 2022.

Born in Hanover, NH, Jim was fiercely passionate about his country and family from the start and dedicated his life to both. After graduating from high school, he started out in chemical engineering and switched to a B.S. in business administration at University of New Hampshire, graduating in 1957.

Immediately afterward, he joined the Air Force to become a pilot. That plan did not work out, but if he had completed pilot training, he would never have met his wife, Aud, in England. They wed in 1961, just six months after meeting, and together they went on to have three children.

Jim’s military career moved them from England to Texas, Nebraska to North Dakota, and Virginia. Finally, they moved to New Hampshire, three children in tow, where, in 1981, he retired as Lt. Colonel to begin a career with Digital Equipment Corporation.

Throughout his management career in Information Systems Technology, Jim put his family first, always, and was a dedicated husband and father. He turned down promotions if he thought they might cost him time with his wife and children, and he always made a point to be home for family dinners every weeknight. He has left a legacy of love.

Jim was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive father and husband. His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of his family. His children went on to pursue careers in management and sales, counseling and education.

In 1991, Jim became a Christian, and he became very passionate about his faith in Jesus. Especially during his retirement, he served people in need through outreach programs and as an elder in Londonderry Presbyterian Church. He volunteered at Sonshine Soup Kitchen in Derry, and Faithworks Ministry of Orchard Christian Fellowship; he was currently active in several Bible studies, including Windham Presbyterian Church. Jim also became a beloved substitute teacher at Windham High School for six years. Former students frequently stopped him in the community to say thanks, years after he had them in class.

Jim was predeceased by his brother, John, mother, Madelyn, and his father, John Segalini. He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Aud, his daughter, Nina (Segalini) Sutton and her husband Clement “Chip” Sutton; daughter, Kristin Margrethe Coffin and her husband Peter Coffin; and son, Erik John Segalini and his wife Jennifer Segalini. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, of which he was very proud: Jesse, Brenner, Ryan, Allison and Natalie.

In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being set up. Donations should be made out to Erik Segalini and mailed to PO Box 426, Oakland, Florida 34760. Include James Segalini Memorial Fund in the memo line. Thank you.
