Jacob Pizzuto Obituary

Jacob P. Pizzuto, 86 passed away on Wednesday January 1, 2025 at Prescott House, N. Andover.

Jake grew up in Boston’s North End after his parents immigrated from Italy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and he lived in Winthrop for over 40 years until he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease.

Jake is remembered for enjoying the simple. He was a gentleman that wore his shirt tucked in, stopped to feed the Boston pigeons, and would choose a day at the zoo over a fancy dinner. He loved nature and all aspects of his Italian heritage. After the service, he worked as a telecommunications technician for Western Union but had the most pride in his own small business, National Communications, selling and delivering office supplies to local companies. He enjoyed sailing the Charles and had the patience for gardening, fishing, and to prepare simple, healthy meals. Classical music was always on, unless he was playing the music himself on the piano, his favorite instrument. For Jake, like all of us, life was complicated at times, but he had the rare humility to admit how he would’ve done things differently if he had the chance. Despite any up or down, high or low, Jake’s defining attribute was his deep pride in his family. Jake is loved and will be missed.

Jake is survived by his daughters Kathleen Doucette and her husband Mel of Methuen, Maria Pendergast and her husband Tim of Methuen, and Michelle Knapp of Franklin, NH. Jake was the grandfather to Nathan Pendergast, Jason Pendergast and his wife Hannah, Dylan Doucette and his wife Alyson, Devan Doucette and his wife Elizabeth, Brandi Prescott and husband Eric, and Carly Knapp, as well as great-grandfather to Brooklyn, Autumn, Jack and Benjamin. Jake is also survived by his siblings Josephine Arigo of Medford, Corinne Testa and her husband Geno of Boston, Lorraine Salerno and her husband Ralph of Malden, and Julie Ischia and her husband John of Melrose, along with many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Vincent Pizzuto, and his mother, Catherine Pizzuto whom he especially loved until her passing at 106 years old, in addition to his oldest sister Fannie Foti of California, his brother Clay Pizzuto of Lynn, and his nephew Carl Pizzuto.
