Irene Marie Altott – Salem, NH

Irene Marie Altott, 96 years of age, of Salem, NH passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024 after a short illness.

Irene was born on September 26, 1927 in Methuen, MA, the daughter of Adelarde and Eva Jameson. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Altott, 99, for 73 years. Irene and Joseph met at Canobie Lake Dance Pavilion in 1948 and were married in 1950.

Irene’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was exceptional at baking and always looked forward to family gatherings. She was an avid reader, card player and gardener. She enjoyed summers at the beach.

Irene is survived by her husband, Joseph Altott and her four children, Frances Toth and her partner, Edward Shehab of Kingsport, TN, Michael Altott and his wife, Jeanne of Canton, CT, Christine Anderson and her husband, John of North Reading, MA, Elaine Altott of Stoneham, MA. Her grandsons, Eric Anderson, Joseph Anderson and Jameson Altott. Her granddaughters, Julia Schofield and Lynne Anderson. Her great-grandchildren, Gus Anderson, Henry Anderson, Jack Anderson, Lucy Anderson, Nate Schofield, Wesley Schofield, Hazel Altott and River Altott.

Irene was predeceased by her 12 brothers and sisters; Arthur Jameson, Henry Jameson, Wilfred Jameson, Victor Jameson, Joseph Jameson, Roger Jameson, Leo Jameson, Jeanette Leveille, Yvonne Plouffe, Alice Couture, Rita Nelson and Theresa Rochon (Irene’s twin sister).

There are no services scheduled at this time. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
