Gail Meredith Evans - Salem, New Hampshire
Gail Meredith Evans passed away in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 1, 2026, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving children.
Born on December 23, 1947, in Lowell, Massachusetts, Gail lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, and quiet service to others. She was raised with the values of hard work, faith, and compassion, and those values remained at the center of her life in every role she held. A lifelong Christian, Gail carried her faith with grace and humility, and her gentle spirit was evident to all who knew her.
Gail graduated from Chelmsford High School and went on to serve in several professional roles throughout her career, including positions with Child Health Services Programs in Manchester, New Hampshire, the United Way of Merrimack Valley, Avco, and Textron.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Gail was deeply committed to helping others in her community. She generously gave her time and energy volunteering with the Pleasant Street Food Pantry.
Gail was known for her independence, resilience, and resourcefulness. She enjoyed reading, watching the Red Sox and Patriots, and tackling small home repair projects, truly becoming a “jack of all trades.” She also found great joy in the companionship of her beloved dog, Bella, whose presence brought comfort, happiness, and warmth to her daily life.
Gail was predeceased by her beloved husband of 42 years, Donald Evans; her daughter, Julie Evans; her brother, Steven Whitney; and her parents, Ralph and Phyllis (Berubee) Whitney.
She leaves behind her loving children: Laurie Burns and her husband, Thomas, of Salem, New Hampshire; Kristen Esposito and her husband, Franco, of Chester, New Hampshire; and Thomas Evans and his wife, Ashley, of Epsom, New Hampshire. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Olivia and James Burns and Adrianna Serino; and her brother, Russell Whitney of Windham, NH.
Gail will be remembered for her warm, loving heart, caring nature, and the many ways she touched the lives of others. Hers is a legacy of compassion that will not be forgotten.
A celebration of Gail’s life will be held later this summer, with more information to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pleasant Street Food Pantry, “Food for the Hungry,” or to the GBS/CIDP Foundation International www.gbs-cidp.org to support continued research and patient services.
