Francis W. Leoncyk, Sr. passed away on Friday April 11, 2025 at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen surrounded by his family. Francis grew up in Lawrence, MA. He attended local schools and was a member of Saint Francis Parish, Lawrence. After graduating high school in 1947, he enlisted in the Navy, spurred on by the events of WWII. Frank was stationed in Cuba and served in the Korean War. He also served in part of the Vietnam War. His service brought him to locations around the world, including North Africa, Europe, and the Mediterranean. He moved up into the ranks to a First-Class Chief Petty Officer serving on two destroyers. He served in the Navy for 22 years, retiring in 1968 with an honorable discharge. Frank then moved with his family to Salem NH. Frank's last job was at the Lawrence Post Office where he retired.
Frank is survived by his two children Frank Leoncyk, Jr. and Kathleen Harris. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren Michael and Mark Leoncyk, and Kyle, Kristian and Kaylen Harris. He exemplified a father's love and dedication for his family that also included many fond nieces and nephews.
Frank shared 30 loving years with his first wife Rose whom he met on a date in 1957. He also shared 20 loving years with his second wife Christine.
Family and friends are invited to an hour of visitation on Tuesday April 22, 2025 from 10 am to 11 am at the Goundrey Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street Salem, NH. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 am on Tuesday at the funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
