Elizabeth L. “Betty” Leonard – Pelham, NH

Elizabeth L. “Betty” Leonard, 88, longtime resident of Salem NH and most recently of Pelham, NH, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, John “Jack” Leonard. Betty was born in Lawrence, MA to George and Selma “Sally” Maki on May 15, 1935.  A graduate of Lawrence High School and a licensed real estate agent, Betty owned and operated Station Realty of Lawrence, MA with her husband until their retirement. Betty enjoyed a good laugh while spending time with her family and friends, traveling and cruising with her late husband Jack, visiting her daughters on the coast of Maine, and 20 years of Jazzercise classes where she developed many friendships.

Betty is survived by three loving daughters, Jayne Beaton and husband Stephen of Amherst, NH, Sharon Robinson and husband Jeff, of Salem, NH and Maryann Leonard-White and husband Gene of Pelham, NH.

Betty will be missed by her five grandchildren; Ryan White, Erica Hall, Rebecca Vermilyea, Christopher Beaton, Alex Beaton; four great-grandsons, Troy Pare, Theodore Pare, Trevor Hall, and Abel Maldonado.

Betty is also survived by her brother George Maki, Jr.; brother and sister in-law Edward Leonard and his wife Sandy, and brother in-law Richard DeFelice. She will be missed by cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her father George Maki; her mother Sally Denny; and sisters Margaret McAvoy and Elaine Smerdon.

Calling hours are Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 9:30 – 11 AM at Goundrey Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079.  A Funeral Service will follow the calling hours at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  Burial in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH will be private.
