Edwin Frances Lavelle, Sr. – Westford, MA
Edwin F. Lavelle, Sr, 88, of Westford MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family from complications related to dementia on July 18, 2024.
Ed was raised in Belmont MA before settling in Westford for the past 52 years. He established and ran a successful machine shop business there for many years. Ed was married to the love of his life, Patricia (Thompson) Lavelle until her passing on October 31, 2009. Ed served in the U.S. Army for 3 years as a Morse Code operator stationed in Anchorage Alaska during the Cold War.
Ed was predeceased by his sister Margret Grammer of Woburn and son-in-law Peter Lupien. He is survived by his 5 children, Edwin F. Lavelle Jr. and his wife Christine of Chelmsford, Karyn DeRoy and her husband Jim of Amherst, Denise Lupien of Salisbury, Gary Lavelle and his wife Mary Jo of Hollis, NH and Karla Libby and her husband Chris of Tyngsborough. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, his sisters Elizabeth Bichleler and her significant other Bill White of Woburn, and Jeanne Wienkoop of Wildwood Crest, NJ.
More than anything Ed enjoyed entertaining at his home on Nabnasset Lake with family and friends. Ed enjoyed traveling and spending time at his Florida home in the winters. He was an avid boater and enjoyed time on the ocean, fishing and on the lake cruising in his pontoon boat.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service for both Edwin and his wife Patricia on August 9, 2024 at 10:30 am at Pine Grove Cemetery, 68 Forge Village Road, Westford, MA 01886. The U.S. Army will be present to render Military Honors for Mr. Lavelle. A celebration of life will immediately follow at Nabnasset Lake Country Club, 47 Oak Hill Road, Westford, MA 01886. All are welcome to attend.
