Denis M. Paradis

Denis Paradis of Salem NH passed away on May 2nd, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Butch, as his friends called him, passed away from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident on April 17th, 2025.

Denis was born in Lawrence, MA. on July 20th, 1948, and attended Lawrence High. After high school he enlisted in the Army and served during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he took classes at Northern Essex Community College and started a career at Compugraphics; staying with them for nearly two decades. Changing careers, he joined Somerville Lumber where he honed his talents in drawing, design and carpentry. He became an accomplished kitchen designer; designing dream kitchens for families throughout New England. He later took his skills to Home Depot where he eventually retired after 18 years.

Denis was an avid hiker and was a member of the “4000 Footers of NH”. Butch loved the outdoors. Whether fishing, hunting or camping, if there was an outdoor activity, chances are he was a part of it, He enthusiastically shared his passions with his wife and three daughters. Although reluctant in accepting the title of artist, his drawings, paintings, furniture creation, custom turned pens said otherwise. He also relished in spending time with his granddaughters teaching the subtleties in shading and strong lines when coloring and creating original artwork. Denis always loved motorcycles, and has had many different styles over the years. Always embracing life, he and Nancy took advantage of retirement and went on a cross-country trek. Visiting many of his beloved nation’s scenic destinations. In recent years he belonged to the CVMA motorcycle club as well as the Merrimack Valley Spyder Riders. He was a member of the Hampstead New Hampshire VFW. He also served on the Patriot Guard, escorting veterans to their final resting place.

Denis was a husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and veteran. By far, his legacy is one of family and love. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Nancy Paradis, and his daughters Nicole Anderson and her husband Paul Anderson, Michelle Giugno and her husband Joseph Giugno,Jr., and Alesha Melanson and her husband Keith Melanson. He also leaves his beloved granddaughters Madison and Grace, and step granddaughters Olivia and Hailey. Denis had one brother Gerard Paradis and wife Maureen Paradis. He had two sisters Rose Moore, and the late Millie St Hilaire as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded by his parents Gerard Paradis and Marie Paradis.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday May 11, 2025 from 2pm to 5pm at the Goundrey Dewhirst Funeral Home 42 Main Street Salem, NH. A Funeral Mass will be on Monday May 12 at 11:00 am at St Matthew Parish 2 Searles Road Windham, NH. (family and guests are asked to meet directly at the church).
