Cheryl Lawson Obituary

Cheryl (James) Lawson – Salem, NH

Cheryl (James) Lawson, age 65, passed away at High Pointe Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 following a hard fought battle with cancer.

Cheryl was born in Bridgeport, CT on June 21, 1956 to Lorrene (Fitzsimons) and Leroy James. Cheryl was the youngest of three siblings.

Cheryl married the love of her life, William “Bill,” on July 1, 1978. They were married for 41 years until Bill’s passing in 2019. Cheryl spent the majority of her life creating a loving home and raising her three children and ultimately helped to raise her grandchildren.

Cheryl will be most remembered as kind, generous and loving. Cheryl never met an animal she did not immediately love and want to keep. She enjoyed spending time talking to friends and family, watching crime TV and wrestling. Cheryl was extremely dedicated to her family, near and far, and would do anything to help and support, even just to lend a listening ear.

Cheryl was predeceased by her loving husband Bill, her parents, Lorrene and Leroy and her brother, David James. Cheryl will be deeply missed by her children, Tara Della Croce and her husband Andrew, Robert Lawson and his wife Jennifer, and Matthew Anderson and his husband Ryan. Known affectionately as “Mimi”, she will forever live on in her grandchildren, McKenna Lawson, Harper and Rory Della Croce, Angel Ortiz and Zavion Anderson. She is also survived by her nephew, Charles Sturtevant, who she contributed to raising. Cheryl is also survived by her sister, Lorrene D’Urso of Londonderry, NH, who provided exceptional support and care for Cheryl during her cancer fight.  Her sisters-in-law, Mary James, Elaine Young and Deborah Lawson. She leaves behind loving aunts and uncles, Anna Mae Canell, Ron Fitzsimons and Adele Fitzsimons.  Cheryl also leaves many nieces and nephews, who she adored. In addition to her loving family, Cheryl also became a staple in the lives of her children’s friends especially, Erin Schofield, with whom she would often schedule afternoon tea with and always enjoyed a deep belly laugh with.
