Cathy Lyn McGowan

Cathy Lyn McGowan, 63 of Fremont NH passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on April 7, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Cathy was born in Phoenixville, PA. She moved around a lot as a child before her family moved to Burlington, MA where she grew up and attended school. 

Cathy is survived by her loving husband Bud of 35 years, whom she married on August 15, 1987. Together they had 2 daughters, Kellie Stedman along with her husband Ryan of Londonderry, NH and Christine Freeman of Danville, NH. She was the proud Nonnie of Brooke and Abigail Stedman and Savannah Freeman. 

Cathy loved life. She never backed down from a challenge, even after her cancer diagnosis. That never stopped her but made her fight harder to make the most out of her life. She loved the beaches, from Aruba where she and Bud traveled frequently the past few years to the beach in Maine where she spent most of her summers. She loved the outdoors; she enjoyed taking walks in the woods with her granddaughters. In the past few years, she found her love of skydiving. Cathy was at her best whether it was sitting in the sun with a coffee or a glass of wine or at night sitting by a fire. Above all her husband, daughters, granddaughters, friends and family brought her the most joy. She truly enjoyed spending time with them whatever they were doing. 

She fought the toughest fight to spend her days with all of them. Come celebrate her life with us on Saturday April 15, 2023 from 11am to 1 pm at the Goundrey Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street Salem, NH.
