Brenda Lee (Silver) Chase – Windham, NH
Brenda Lee (Silver) Chase of Windham, NH passed away peacefully in her sleep at home with family on September 21, 2023. Beloved wife of Edmund “Ted” L. Chase. Loving mother of Samantha M. Chase and her wife Kristin. Cherished daughter of Ralph Silver and Alma (Harvey) Powers. Sister of Faith Walls.
Brenda was born on December 20, 1947 in Exeter, NH. She graduated from McIntosh College in Dover, NH and began work in the Navy Yard as a secretary. Brenda met Ted in 1967 when he was doing a work study program at the Navy Yard. They fell in love and married on August 26, 1972 after Ted completed college. They traveled around living in New Jersey and Massachusetts before settling down in New Hampshire. They had their only child Samantha on November 3, 1982. They raised Samantha in Windham, NH and remained there in the house they built together. Brenda and Ted had a wonderful 51 years together.
Brenda led a truly full life. She worked with her husband at Western Electric, AT&T and Lucent Technologies. She lived her life giving herself to others. One of her greatest passions in life was helping children and students excel through programs such as Odyssey of the Mind and Destination Imagination. She spent years working with children to help shape their minds, although her true passion was sports. Throughout her life she was an amazing mother, wife, friend, coach and fan. She coached Samantha growing up in basketball and softball. Many of her favorite days were spent on the field and in the stands watching the Salem High School Blue Devils and the University of Vermont Catamounts.
She was fearless and always said yes to life without a moment’s hesitation. Throughout her 22 year hard fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease, she lived and loved deeply and fiercely. Brenda had a way with words and made friends everywhere that she went. She will be dearly missed and remembered by all who knew her.
There will be calling hours at the Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH on Friday September 29th from 5-7pm.
A celebration of Brenda’s life will be held on Saturday October 14th at 1:30 pm. This will be at The First Congregational Church of Eliot, 1361 State Road in Eliot, ME 03903. This will be followed by a reception at a local venue.
