Berton “Bernie” Bernier – Salem, NH
Berton “Bernie” Bernier was born on June 16, 1954, in Van Buren, Maine. He passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2025, at the age of 70.
Bernie was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a beautiful soul who would help anyone. He enjoyed cruising, birdwatching, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 42 years Marian Bernier; his children, Tammi and her husband Tom Hendrick, Michael Bernier; grandchildren, Alex and Addie Hendrick; brothers, Eldon, his wife Joan, Melvin; sisters, Artheline Anderson, her husband Carl; his twin Bernet, her husband Frank; Sister-in-law, Donna and many nieces and nephews.
Bernie was predeceased by his mother and father Yvonne and Odule Bernier; Brothers, Ruben, Ulyesse, and sister Geraldine.
Bernie was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart, jovial nature, and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and kind. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all his life experiences as an army veteran, truck driver, home chef, and tinker of all things. “If Grampy can’t fix it, no one can”!
He will be remembered for all the love he shared with his family and friends. He truly loved each of them- and if you knew him, you knew it. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity and strength. He will be missed dearly.
