Barbara M. Maloney, OCDS

Barbara M. (Larkin) Maloney, age 83, of Windham,NH passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2021.  She was married to her beloved husband, Lawrence R. Maloney, Jr. for 35 years until he predeceased her in 1996.  She was born on May 1, 1937 in Boston MA, the daughter of the late John L. Larkin and Evelyn (Reimann) Larkin.

She is survived by her daughter, Christine Berger and her husband, Roy H. Berger, her daughter, Heidi Tuminowski and her husband, Walter Tuminowski, her daughter, Laurie Britting and her husband, Glenn Britting, her grandchildren, Erin Yaroch and her husband Patrick Yaroch, Roy H. Berger, Jr., Madison Britting, Cole Britting and Nicholas Tuminowski, her sister, Susan Roberts and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her sisters, Phyllis Larkin and Janice Stanley.

Born in Boston and raised in West Roxbury, MA along with her three sisters, Barbara graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Brookline and went on to attend Catherine Laboure School of Nursing. 

While in nursing school, she met her husband, Lawrence ("Larry") at a dance and after the two were married, they went on to have three daughters.

As an Air Force wife, Barbara moved with her family 13 times.  Despite the challenges of that situation, Barbara loved living in different places throughout the United States.

Barbara loved being a nurse and worked in that career until she retired. 

After Larry retired from the Air Force, Barbara and her family settled down in Chelmsford, MA. She later moved to Windham, NH.

Barbara was a very generous, kind, fun-loving person who loved people.

Barbara was a devout Catholic and made many trips all over the world to Catholic religious sites.

She was a beloved member of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites (OCDS) in Danvers MA.  Her devotional name in Carmel is Elizabeth of the Trinity. In this role she devoted much of her time to prayer and teaching. She taught formation classes and especially enjoyed teaching about the angels.
