Aud R. Segalini

Aud Raastad Segalini, 84, of Londonderry, NH, passed away on December 18 after years of bravely battling an aggressive and rare neurological disease.

Born in Oslo, Norway, Aud dedicated her life to serving Jesus and serving others. She met her husband, Jim, in England and they wed in 1961, just six months after meeting. Jim’s military career moved them from England to Texas, then to Nebraska, North Dakota, and Virginia. Finally, they moved to New Hampshire, with three children in tow. And in each place, Aud created a beautiful, warm, and loving home for her family.

Aud was a courageous, loving, and supportive mother and wife. She maintained an interest in the passions and professions of her children and grandchildren, right up to her passing. She also engaged her mind with theology, politics and current events, and faithfully subscribed to “The Union Leader” newspaper. Most of all, she was a person of prayer, regularly speaking to God about her concerns and those she loved. Aud fervently believed that God heard her and spoke to her, and He did.

For decades, Aud counseled and mentored women from her community, praying with them and seeking guidance from Scripture.  She was also admired for her exceptional and elegant hospitality when frequently hosting friends and family in her beautiful homes.  She made faith the foundation of her family and the compass she chose to direct her life. As a mother figure and confidante to so many, Aud was often affectionately called “Mamma,” the same name her children called her.

Aud was predeceased by her father, Ansgar, her mother, Ruth, and her husband, Jim, to whom she was married for 60 years. She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Nina Segalini Sutton, married to Clement (Chip) Sutton; daughter, Kristin Margrethe Coffin, married to Peter Coffin; and son, Erik John Segalini, married to Jennifer Segalini. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply: Jesse, Brenner, Ryan, Allison and Natalie.

Family and friends may call at the Goundrey Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH, on Friday, December 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, December 23, at 10 a.m. at Windham Presbyterian Church, 1 Church Road, Windham, NH

Interment will be at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH on Thursday, December 28, at 11 a.m.
