Aline Barbin Obituary

Aline Barbin, born Marie Rose Aline Beliveau, 89, passed on Valentine’s Day in Jensen Beach, Florida at Grand Oaks Assisted Living, following a courageous 10+ year battle against Alzheimer's Disease.

Aline was born on June 24, 1934 in Lawrence, MA to Jeannette and Arthur Beliveau. She was predeceased by her husband Henry “Hank” Barbin.  She leaves behind two sisters - Pauline Beaudoin and Claire Harvey; her five children and their spouses - Debra and Dan Antoon, Glenn and Linda Barbin, Wayne Barbin, Gayle and Joe Zydlewski, and Chris Barbin and Lori Csaszar; six grandchildren - Keith and Kevin Antoon, Tara McAfee, Orion Zydlewski, Kate and William Barbin; one step grandchild - Mia Ginocchi; and four great grandchildren - Kylie, Kolton, Avery, and Riley Antoon.

Aline graduated from Saint Anne’s High School at the top of her class. She married Henry R. Barbin on May 19, 1956.  Aline and Hank raised five children, primarily on Butternut Lane in Methuen, MA, and spent their summers waterskiing, fishing, swimming and lobster baking in Naples, Maine on Sebago Lake, where Hank had built the family a vacation home.

First and foremost, Aline was a proud homemaker - focusing on her children and their endless school-age activities; her husband’s work and hobbies; and constantly prioritizing the family's overall well-being. She was always the life of the party, often described as “bubbly.” Aline was, to put it lightly, “endlessly energetic” - never sitting down and always taking care of those around her.  She was an avid card player (rummy and, yes, ‘45s’), with a highly competitive spirit; and she was an irrepressible extrovert - never missing an opportunity to dance, socialize …and dance again.  True to that extroverted personality, she worked as an Avon Lady off and on in the 70’s and 80’s.  Once the kids left home, she pursued her deep interest in being with and taking care of people, working as a banquet manager at the Windsor Mills Restaurant in Dracut, then running the General Store at Point Sebago in Casco, Maine.

Aline and Hank became ‘snowbirds’ in the mid ‘90s, moving to Pine Lake Gardens in Stuart, Florida and spending winters down south and summers in Maine.

She moved into Grand Oaks Assisted Living in 2014 as one of its original residents and quickly made friends who stuck with her to the end.  Her friendship with Ruth Woodbury was endearing and enduring; and it’s estimated that they played over 30,000 hours of cards together over their 10-year friendship!  We will be forever grateful for the team and caregivers at Grand Oaks and for the unwavering support we received from her doctors over the years.
