Alice M. Langone

Alice Langone, née Libertini was born July 30, 1928 to Rocco and Esther Libertini, in Cambridge, MA, the second of four children. She spent her early childhood years in East Cambridge where she was raised with an extended family that included grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. 

The family moved to Medford, MA, where Alice spent her formative years. During this time, she developed her creative skills by apprenticing at her Aunt Carmela’s sewing shop, learning the art of making and altering clothing. She also attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston where she discovered her lifelong passion for drawing and painting.

In 1952, she married Michael C. Langone (deceased 2025) of East Boston, MA. The couple settled in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston where their three children were born. As the family grew, they moved to Reading, MA, where they lived for 37 years. During that period, Alice started her sewing business, “Alice’s Alterations” and developed a loyal following of customers, many of whom became lifelong friends. 

Alice led a very active and full life while managing the demands of a growing family. She loved to cook and host memorable meals, bringing family and friends together around her table. She also enjoyed staying physically fit, taking aerobic classes and socializing afterwards with classmates.

During their 72 years of marriage, Alice and Mike enjoyed traveling, making several trips to Italy where Alice’s family was from. Through Mike’s U.S. Navy affiliation, they became active members of the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association. With that group, they attended annual reunions throughout the United States and formed close bonds with fellow members.

In 2005, Alice and Mike moved to an adult community in Salem, NH. They quickly became a beloved couple there, making new friends and sharing many happy times together. Alice continued her love of cooking, often making pizza and biscotti to share with her neighbors. She also maintained her active lifestyle by participating in fitness classes at the Salem, NH Senior Center.

Alice passed away on August 17, 2026, at Greystone Farm in Salem, NH. She is survived by her children: Karen Legendre (Paul), Michael Langone (Carol Namkoong), and Robert Langone (Kara Hena); her grandchildren, Renee Moseley, Joseph Legendre, and Michael Legendre; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alice will be remembered as a loving mother, friendly neighbor and warm friend. She will be missed by all. 

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, 40 Main St., Salem, NH, on Thursday September 3, 2026 at 10:30am followed with light refreshments at the church hall.
