Richard George Ciano was born on February 6th, 1947 in the city of Revere, MA, to Salvatore and Anne Ciano. He was the youngest of 5 children and is survived by his brothers, John Ciano , Bill Ciano, Jim Ciano and sister Sally Ciano, his son Robert Ciano and granddaughter Charlotte Rose Ciano.

Richard attended Revere High school before enlisting in the USAF on April 4th, 1966, in which he served his country for the next 20 years. Richard traveled the world with the USAF, spending time in Thailand and the Phillipines during the Vietnam war where he was assigned to Strategic Air Command. After returning stateside he served as a military intelligence officer stationed at Luke AFB in Phoenix, AZ, where he would father his only son with his wife Charlotte Marie Ciano. In October of 1978, he was widowed as a result of a motor vehicle accident and would raise his son Robert as a single parent. Richard retired from the USAF in 1986 while living in Salem, NH and during his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal among other service related decorations.

Richard loved his friends and family without restraint and would give everything he had to help those in need. At the age of 55 Richard left the harsh winters of New England for the sandy beaches of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Richard loved boating, tennis, going to the movies and most of all he loved to make people laugh.

Richard passed on June 24th, 2017 surrounded by the love of his family.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Memorial Service on Saturday, August 12, 2017, from 3 PM to 5 PM, in the chapel at the Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH, 03079. Words of Remembrance will follow at 5 PM at the funeral home, along with Military Honors.
