Carol Ann Rogers Obituary

North Andover, MA/Salem, NH — Carol Ann Rogers, 83, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at the Meadows at Edgewood in North Andover, MA.

Born in Boston, MA, Carol Ann was the daughter of the late James and Margaret Jackson of Salem, NH. She lived most of her life in Salem, NH, graduating from Woodbury High School in 1954. She was a proud cum laude graduate of The New England Conservatory of Music, earning a degree in Music Education with a special concentration in Piano Performance. She also taught piano privately for many years.

Carol Ann began her teaching career in Braintree, MA, and then spent 39 years teaching music in Haverhill, MA. She was an elementary music teacher and music supervisor for 21 years, and the Choral Director at Haverhill High School for 18 years. As choral director, she doubled the size of the choral program to 8 performing groups and 130 members. Her groups performed musicals, sang concerts throughout the City and traveled from Canada to Florida competing in choral competitions. These competitions always earned the groups gold ratings and championship trophies. Her students were very special to her. She traveled far and wide to see them perform long after they graduated from her program, and even opened her doors to them at Christmastime to enjoy cocoa, cookies and caroling.

Carol Ann was a lifelong member of the Hannah Tenney United Methodist Church, serving on many committees, and was the junior choir director and church treasurer.  Upon moving to Derry, NH after retirement and the closing of Hannah Tenney, she joined the Londonderry United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. Carol Ann spent her winters in Boynton Beach, Florida where she enjoyed the sunshine and the companionship of many wonderful friends. She loved gardening, reading, spending time with her family, and watching her beloved Boston Red Sox.

The widow of the late William A. Rogers, Carol Ann is survived by her three children: Lori Sylvia (and her husband, James) of Newton, MA; Richard Rogers (and his wife, Sabine) of Amsterdam, The Netherlands; and Elise Solloway (and her husband, Joseph) of Atkinson, NH; eight grandchildren, Emily Sylvia (and her husband, Michael Rivkin), Sarah Sylvia, William Sylvia, Ruby Rogers, Rosie Rogers, Annabel Rogers, Jarrod Solloway, and Jenna Solloway; a sister in law, Marjorie Jackson and several nieces and nephews.

Carol Ann’s family wishes to thank the staff of Home Instead Senior Care, The Meadows of Edgewood and All Care Hospice for the outstanding compassion and care provided during her final months.
