Bertha E. Klemm Rushton, 91 of Windham, NH passed away on Friday September 15, 2017 at Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH.  Mrs. Rushton was born, raised and educated in Boston, and lived in Lexington, MA before moving to Windham in 1975.  For many years, she and her family owned and operated Klemm’s Bakery with locations in South Boston, Salem, NH and Windham, NH.  Bertha was also the owner of the Windham Country Store.  She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, camping and spending winters in Florida.  Bertha especially loved being with her family.

Bertha is the widow of Arthur P. Klemm, Sr. and George T. Rushton.  Her family members include her sons, Arthur P. Klemm, Jr. (former New Hampshire State Senate President) and his wife Marilyn of Windham, NH and Thomas E. Klemm, Sr. and his wife, Tricia of Salem, NH. She also leaves her daughters, Doris A. and her husband, Philip Prugnarola and Susan J. and her husband, Robert Chapman both of Windham.  Bertha also leaves her step-son, Mark Rushton and his wife, Maria of Mansfield, MA.  She has 9 grandchildren, Christine, Thomas, Jr., Jennifer, Philip, Jr., Christopher, Stephanie (also Bertha’s god daughter), Evan, Jonathan and Mark as well as 6 great grandchildren, Ava, Riley, Tyler, Gabriella, Thomas, III and Camden.  She also leaves several nieces and nephews and her friend, Jim Cheeseman of Salem, NH.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Tuesday September 19, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm at The Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main St., Salem, NH.  Funeral services will be on Wednesday September 20th at 10:00 am at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Cemetery on The Plain, Windham, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Caregivers of Greater Derry, the Loaners Closet, 1B Commons Drive # 10, Londonderry, NH 03053.
