Barbara A. Lutey

Barbara A. (Tatoyian) Lutey passed away on April 29, 2018 at Academy Manor in Andover, MA after a short illness.

She was the daughter of Anna M. (Fredrickson) Tatoyian and Charles Tatoyian.

Barbara graduated from Lawrence High School and Burdette Secretarial School in Boston.  After graduation she worked at the Pentagon in Washington, DC where she met her former husband Wesley R. Lutey Sr.  After a period raising her children, Barbara worked at the North Salem Elementary School in Salem, NH, The Greater Lawrence Community Action Council, and the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA from which she retired.  She was a devoted grandmother who adored her sweet granddaughters. 

Barbara was a farmer at heart having been born on the family farm on Kelly Road in Salem. She was happiest gardening and working in her yard. She was an active member of the Pleasant Street United Methodist Church and enjoyed using her creative abilities to decorate the church’s display windows.

Barbara is survived by her three children Wesley R. Lutey Jr of Hampstead, Linda M. Lutey of Salem, and Cynthia A. (Lutey) Mattia and her husband Ralph D. Mattia of Salem. She is also survived by her two beloved granddaughters Jessica  J.L. Mattia and Sara Y. E. Lutey, her Aunt Mary B. Tatoyian all of Salem, many cousins and dear friends Lois and Jim Goss of Salem.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to the Pleasant Street United Methodist Church, 8 Pleasant St. Salem, NH or The Salem Animal Rescue League, 4 SARL Drive, Salem, NH.
