Gary Egge Obituary

Gary James Egge, 79, of Salem, New Hampshire died Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Greystone Farm.

Born on May 20, 1944 in Allentown, PA, Gary was the son of the late Alfred and Mary Egge and brother of the late Joan Egge.

Gary graduated from Southern Lehigh High School in 1962 where he played baseball and was inducted into the Southern Lehigh Athletic Hall of Fame.  He went on to attend Rutgers University in New Jersey where he played varsity baseball and obtained his Bachelor of Arts.

Shortly after graduating college, Gary was drafted into the United States Armed Forces and served active duty in Vietnam from 1966-1968.  He was honored with the following commendations:  Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Accommodation Medal, two Overseas Bars, and the National Defense Service Medal.  He was honorably discharged from the United States Army Reserve in 1972.

Following his service in the military, he was employed at Osram Sylvania for over 30 years and retired as Director of Labor Relations.

Gary, a loving and very proud father, is survived by his son Bryan Egge and daughter-in-law Lauren Freedman of Boston, MA.  He was also a doting ‘’dog dad’’ to the late Wiley and his surviving pup, Josie, both doodle mixes.

A Corvette enthusiast, Gary was the owner of a 1986 Corvette and much to Bryan’s dismay, Gary sold it before Bryan was legal to drive.  Gary enjoyed watching sports games as a devoted Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan and loved spending time fishing at Lake Sunapee and golfing with Bryan.
