Emma D. Patnaude (Turchi) Chahanovich – Chelmsford, MA

Emma D. Patnaude (Turchi) Chahanovich, born January 4, 1925 in Methuen, MA passed away peacefully at the age of 99 on March 3, 2024.

Born in Methuen MA, she was the devoted daughter of Concietta and Eugene Patnaude. A proud graduate of Searles High School, class of 1942. She had a full working career as a layout operator at Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent in North Andover, MA.

Affectionately known as Mom, Mama, Grammy, and Nonna by her family, Emma was the life of the party with her quick wit and had a glorious 99 years. She brought joy and laughter to everyone she met. She was an active candlepin bowler for over 60 years and was an enthusiastic participant in ballroom dancing. After retirement, she traveled extensively to the Caribbean and other exotic destinations.

She is survived by her daughters, Lynn D. Turchi, of Methuen, Debra P Walsh of Chelmsford and stepdaughter, Jean Sullivan and her husband Doug and family in Lake Worth, FL. Also her sisters, Roberta Karamourtopoulos of Salem, NH and Shirley Ann Byrne and her husband Larry of Scottsdale, AZ, sister-in-laws Carol Patnaude and her partner Tony of Groveland, Pat Onlay and her husband Ken of Bennington, VT, and Catherine Patterson of FL. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Emma also leaves her grandsons Keith Walsh and wife Maryanne and Jeffery Walsh and wife Lindsay, all of Chelmsford, MA, five great grandchildren, Brooke, Nolan, Evelyn, Henry, and Abel Walsh. Also, her daughter-in-law Kim Rabold and grandchildren Zachary and Violet Rabold of Amesbury.

Emma was predeceased by her husband, Melvin Chahanovich, and her former husband, Bruno P. Turchi, as well as her siblings Eugene, Irene, and Arthur.

Emma's family would like to thank the nursing staff and activity staff for the wonderful care given to her at Sunny Acres of Chelmsford, MA for helping her to live her life to its fullest over the last three years.

Graveside services for family and friends will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Salem, NH on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
