Walter Eaton Obituary

Walter (Wally) B. Eaton was born in Lawrence, MA and passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, March 5, 2018 at the age of 75 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH.  He was a 1960 graduate of Tenney High School in Methuen, MA.  He met his loving wife, Corie, in 1959 and they celebrated their 55th anniversary last September.  After moving from Pelham, NH they resided in Derry, NH for 50 years before moving to North Salem, NH.

His first job at 18 was with Brox Dairy, delivering milk.  For the next 20 years he worked at Galloway Oil, where he learned the industry and gained important experience needed so that he could go on to be the proud owner of Walter B. Eaton & Son Heating Company, which he ran side by side with his son Rick for 30 years.  Wally’s passion was being a firefighter and protecting wildlife from forest fires.  He was a call firefighter for East Derry Fire for 25 years and retired as Lieutenant.  During his time with the department, he was the Clerk of Works for the building of Station 2 on English Range Rd in East Derry, and became the dedicated watchman for the Warner Hill Tower for the Forest and Land Division for over 25 years before retiring in summer of 2017 as Deputy Fire Warden. He also served as the dispatcher for the Salem Fire Department for a brief period.

Wally was predeceased by his parents Walter and Shirley (Stowers) Eaton.

He is survived by his loving wife “Corie” Cora (Turnbull) Eaton, children Julie Cheney, Jamison Gott, Richard Eaton, Susan Caparco and Carie Pinheiro, grandsons Nathan Cheney, Nicholas Cheney & Trevor Eaton, one granddaughter Lylly Pinheiro, and a great-granddaughter Ava Victoria Moore Cheney.

He is also survived by his sister Joyce (Eaton) and brother-in-law Robert Waldie, several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many, many good friends.

Wally will be missed by all and our memories of him will be cherished. In lieu of flowers, The Eaton family asks that donations be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society Newport News PO Box 12268, Newport News, VA 23612 or Dana Farber Cancer Institute of Boston, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215.
